At WebRanking we believe that our success is best measured by the success of our clients.  In my 8 years with the company, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of amazing clients, and I am happy to say that we have played a small role in helping many find online success.

Ignite Portland #8

WebRanking is a proud sponsor of Ignite Portland 8, which is being held on Wednesday March 3^rd at 7 PM at the Bagdad Theater. 

For those unfamiliar with Ignite, this geek friendly event gives 20 speakers 5 minutes on stage with 20 slides that auto advance after 15 seconds.  The speakers for this event were selected from over 75 entries and the topics vary from funny, to serious to the downright obscure.  A complete list of the speaker topics can be found at the Ignite Portland website.

The Ignite events are free and the doors open at 5:30 PM.  This is an extremely popular event, so if you want to attend make sure you get there early.  It fills up quick.

At WebRanking, we are dedicated to our own continuing education in the industry we have been apart of for over a decade. So when I recently discovered the “Essentials of Online Marketing” course that is offered through the Online Marketing Institute, I decided it was time to brush up on a few internet marketing areas that fall outside the search box.

My first born is now officially 3 days overdue. Am I patiently waiting? Heck no, not in the least. I’ve seem to have turned into a hyperactive child in need of his Ritalin at the end of a three day candy binge waiting for his habitually late sleeping parents to finally get out of bed on Christmas morning. Except I’m not even sure what day my Christmas is going to fall on. Yeah, I really am that bad off. (more…)

OMS - Portland - June 2009

Monday finds me out of the office once again, as both Tony and I will be attending the Online Marketing Summit at the Monaco Hotel in Portland. The OMS is an education based event that focuses on best practices in online marketing. The topics for the one day event will include Social Media, Search, PPC, Email Marketing, Analytics and Integrated Marketing Strategies. (more…)

Last Monday I made the quick trip up I-5 to Seattle for this year’s SMX Advanced.  Not only did this yearly expo provide our management team with an opportunity to meet and network with some of the search industry’s top minds, but to also attend some very informative sessions on Organic, Paid, Social and the Business side of search marketing.

James, Chris and myself will be in Seattle, Monday June 1st thru Thursday the 4th 2009 to attend the SMX Advanced. We are all really excited about attending the conference and a chance to learn some new skills and ideas that we can apply to our clients’ search marketing campaigns to get them better results, and to meet other people in our industry. The conference is 2 full days of speakers and classes, with a few meet and greet evening social interaction sessions. We bought our tickets a month ago, and looking on their site today, the event is all sold out, glad we got our tickets when we did, as the event is only in Seattle once a year.

Monday, April 20th, 2009: Today I celebrate the completion of my first decade in search.  I have been waiting for this day with some trepidation for the past 6 months or so.  I am not really sure why or even what this anniversary really means.  Does it mean that I am some sort of expert?  Well, anything is possible.  Or does it mean that I have spent the past decade in an industry that my friends and family can hardly even understand?  Hmm, I hope not.  In truth, it means I not only have a job that I like, but a career that I love. Change is never easy.  Getting three uniquely different, but creative minds to all agree on one new design can be even tougher.  Trust me on that one.  Yet during the design process for the reimagining of our company website we came to a surprisingly quick agreement when presented with the proposed new look for the new site.  We hope you share in our enthusiasm for the style and appearance of our newly launched design.
